There are a couple things about the music videos that need to be recorded. I've decided to periodically write some of the battle stories from the sets of the videos. Take a look at the actual vids in the film section of this website.
First off, the Frankie Bones 'Refuse to Fight' vid was a nightmarish shoot. I was given $1000 initially to basically shoot a little film about streetkids. The only direction the label gave me was, "...make it about streetkids in brooklyn." It was a great start for me, I had never even touched a 16mm camera let alone shot on color film stock with a full arsenal of equipment as my disposal but more on that later.
I made up flyers and had friends give them out at all the NYC clubs at the time. The flyers said we were looking for graffiti artists, hoods and the like for a Frankie Bones video and the response was tremendous. Evidently, friends that got these flyers told friends who told friends and eventually I had more than 100 kids to audition. In order to keep things on schedule, I couldn't do auditions so I met with the ones I liked over the phone. In a couple of weeks I had our cast.
